Project Overview

PeroDesign collaborated with a local artist to bring vibrant, nature-inspired artwork to a newly developed residential property. The goal was to create a warm and welcoming first impression for prospective tenants and residents through large-scale murals and layered art experiences in common spaces.

Canvas at Press Blocks

Project Overview

PeroDesign was brought into the historic Oregonian press building to help reimagine its interior with color, storytelling, and public art. Working collaboratively with Urban Renaissance Group, Portland Street Art Alliance, and a team of local artists, the project focused on creating a sense of place that honors the building’s legacy while welcoming a new generation of tenants.

Key Areas of Focus

• Designed and installed a visual timeline celebrating the history of the Oregonian press building
• Commissioned three artists to create large-scale murals and installations for the lobby and bike storage area
• Partnered with Portland Street Art Alliance for community-based mural execution
• Brought vibrancy, local culture, and a contemporary edge to a legacy property

Project Impact

The Canvas Building art program celebrates the site’s history while infusing it with new energy and identity. The murals and timeline installations create a visually memorable experience for tenants and visitors, anchoring the building’s brand and enhancing its connection to Portland’s cultural landscape.

Each property required a tailored approach that balanced aesthetic impact with local character — from historical imagery to commissioned contemporary artwork.

- Commissioned Netherlands-based artist Paul Brounsto create statement artwork
